221B Con

221B Con is fan-run convention for all things Sherlock Holmes. 221Bcon was created in 2013 and is held annually in Atlanta, GA.

Items created for 221B Con included bookmarks, ads, t-shirts and convention badges. Imagery focused on the BBC’s recent property, Sherlock and the 2015 film, Mr. Holmes.

 

 

Mr. Holmes

In 2015 the movie Mr. Holmes was released. The film was based on the book A Slight Trick of the Mind by Mitch Cullin. Ian McKellen starred in the titular role. For the conference badge, it seemed fitting to draw an image inspired by that year's primary Sherlock property. Bees played a significant role in the film, hence the pattern behind the portrait of Ian McKellen. The illustration was drawn by hand and then colored in Adobe Photoshop.

 

 

Sherlock (TV Series)

 I illustrated portraits of Sherlock and Watson (portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, respectively). At this time, Sherlock had hit popular critical mass. The illustration was used for posters and bookmarks.
