Tijuana Garage
I approached a patron of an antique mall one afternoon because he was wearing a shirt that I designed for The Varsity in Atlanta. It was his favorite shirt. This encounter led to my designing the logos and supporting materials for his two Atlanta restaurants, Front Page News and Tijuana Garage.
The inspirations for Tijuana Garage were gas stations and pit stops across the U.S. in the 1950s and 1960s (i.e. Mobil Gas, Shell, and 76). I knew that a standard type would not fit the aesthetic. So, to solidify the look I scanned wood block prints from period letter press posters to digitize and make a fitting typeface.
