Edward Gorey

While browsing Pinterest for drawing inspiration, I came across a photo of a man with a cat draped around his shoulders. I instantly knew this would be my next illustration—there was something about the pose, the expression, the connection. But I didn’t recognize the person in the image.

After a quick reverse image search, I discovered it was none other than Edward Gorey—illustrator, author, and cat enthusiast.

As a kid, I remember being captivated by his animated intro for Masterpiece Mystery! on PBS. I love that I inadvertently illustrated an illustrator—one whose work quietly shaped my creative world.
