George Harrison

I knew that George was a Beatle, but he didn't exist for me until his 1987 cover of Rudy Clark's "Got My Mind Set on You." It was poppy, and I was in middle school. On rides to school with my mom—a lifelong Beatles fan and teacher—it became our song.

Years later, at the age of three, it became my son's favorite song. And thus began his relationship with The Beatles, with my mom as his guide to their influential catalog. It became their song and was played at her wedding—for him to sing along to and for them to playfully dance. We all smiled when he heard the opening notes and yelled, "Nanny, it's Georgie. That's our song!"
